Course Details

Take your passion for diving and turn it into a profession. Furthermore, the SSI Divemaster Course at Deep South Divers in Marsa Alam is an intensive, hands-on professional program that prepares you for real work in the diving industry. Moreover, whether you want to join our team or work anywhere in the world, this course gives you the skills, confidence, and experience employers actually look for.

Unlike courses that rush you through in a few days, our program runs 5 practical application days minimum, with options extending to 2 weeks or even 1 month. Additionally, you will practice at professional-level standards from Day 1 because a Divemaster must perform like a Pro, not just a certified diver. Consequently, graduates leave ready for real employment.

Why Choose Deep South Divers for Your SSI Divemaster Course?

5 Days of Practical Application — Minimum

Most Divemaster programs are theory-heavy with minimal water time. However, at Deep South Divers, you spend 5 full days in practical application from 7:30 AM to 4-5 PM with real dives, real guiding, and real scenarios. Moreover, if you choose the extended program, you get up to 2 weeks of intensive training.

Train in Professional Standards From Day 1

On Day 1, you will practice all Open Water skills at professional demonstration quality. After all, as a Divemaster, you will assist instructors and certify students, so your own skills must be flawless. Consequently, we hold you to the same standard we expect from our own team. Furthermore, any weaknesses are identified and corrected immediately.

Learn Real Dive Center Operations

This course goes far beyond leading dives. In fact, you will learn how to handle dive center paperwork, plan the day, select dive sites suitable for your divers, organize logistics, and plan dives, including gas consumption calculations. Additionally, you will see the full operation from filling tanks to closing the dive day. Therefore, you graduate with operational knowledge that most Divemaster courses skip entirely.

Learn From Instructor Trainer Moudi Heikal

Your training is led by Mahmoud “Moudi” Heikal, an SSI Instructor Trainer with 7,000+ logged dives and years of real-world experience. Importantly, Moudi does not just teach the curriculum—he mentors you for the reality of working in diving. Furthermore, his connections across the industry can open doors for your career.

Dive the Best Sites—Including Elphinstone

During your training, you will visit the best and most famous dive locations in Marsa Alam:

  • Elphinstone Reef — World-famous drift dives, sharks, and deep walls
  • Marsa Assalaya — Calm, sheltered conditions for skill practice and guiding evaluations
  • Marsa Egla — Moderate conditions for navigation and guiding practice
  • Marsa Samadai (Dolphin House)—Open water boat dives for guiding at depth
  • Marsa Gabel El Rosas — Variable conditions for advanced guiding practice
  • Abu Dabbab—Shallow water is perfect for demonstrating skills with students

What You’ll Learn in the SSI Divemaster Program

The SSI Divemaster program (ISO 24801-3) is designed to give you the knowledge and training required to guide certified divers and assist instructors in recreational scuba training programs. Specifically, here is how we structure it:

Theory Sessions (Daily — 1.5 to 2 Hours)

Every day includes structured classroom time covering:

  • Dive leadership and management principles
  • Legal responsibilities and liability of a dive professional
  • Science of Diving (physics, physiology, decompression theory)
  • Dive center operations, risk management, and customer service
  • Professional Programs and SSI Standards

Note: You must pass the Divemaster Final Exam and the Science of Diving Final Exam to complete the certification. Furthermore, your instructor will prepare you thoroughly for both exams.

SSI Divemaster Course Schedule — 5-Day Practical Application

All practical days include pickup at 7:30 AM and finish at 4:00-5:00 PM. Therefore, this is an intensive program designed to build professional skills fast. Additionally, each day combines water work with theory review.

Day 1: Open Water Skill Review — Professional Demonstration Standard

You will practice every Open Water skill at professional demonstration quality. • Leading confidently at depth

Furthermore, deep guiding at Elphinstone Reef adds real-world excitement to your training.

excellent diving center with truly professional instructors who listen to us, dives with turtles, moray eels swimming in open water, in a cave and especially snorkelling with dolphins, breathtaking intact coral reefs. we highly recommend this dive center and we will definitely come back
(5/5)
I'd already heard many positive feedbacks about this diving center from other foreign divers, now I can definitely confirm it's true! The location is next to the beautiful Tondoba bay. The sea there is full of colourful & vibrant coral reefs as well as abundance of other marine lifes like blue dots rays, moray eels... and with a large sandy grass land where I saw a large eagle ray, and at least 10 giant turtles ...I also booked a boat diving trip to Shab Samadai where I spotted 17 dolphins in a crystal clear water! And I explored an area with many pinnacle and coral reefs with various shapes, sizes and colours. But the highlights of all were the underwater caves where the light can penetrate into them create a magical and spectacular scenery! So surreal, that at certain point, I could'nt even make the difference between reality and dream! All these, huge thanks to Muhammed Mustafa (the owner), Mahmoud (the manager), Ibrahim (the guide) and the whole team without which this diving trip would'nt be possible!!! Next time, if I come back to Marsa Alam, you'll be, for sure, my first choice! ✌

Very good diving with Mahmoud, Modi, Ramadan and others. They speak good English, make you feel very safe and show you spectacular dive sites. The price is very reasonable too, and the equipment they give you is high quality. They can cater to any experience level of diver, and also snorkelers. I strongly recommend Deep South Divers - and also the excellent partner hostel, Deep South Eco Lodge, with excellent hosts Abdul and Fardi.

We went twice to the Samadai dolphin house: saw many dolphins snorkeling first, then did two beautiful dives in the reef. Ramadan was the best guide ever! We first did a refreshing dive with him. He’s very nice and professional, made us feel very comfortable the whole time.
